When you transport tens of thousands of students, a few slip ups are bound to happen. No child died and no child was injured or abducted. Why not give JCPS credit for the thousands of students who got to school and back without incident??? Confused Confused Confused

I wonder if you'd feel the same if this was YOUR child! Roll Eyes And no it wasn't my child that was lost for 2 or 4 hours but I certainly can relate and understand these parents' fear and frustration. We aren't talking 10 or 12 year olds that were lost in the shuffle. These are 5 year old kids. So don't patronize me. The board didn't think this through. I'm not stupid. I realize there are thousands of students but tell that to the parent that had the lost child! It shouldn't have happened and wouldn't have if the kids went to school in the district where they live.

I don't understand why you think I patronized you. I still think that when you move large number of students, a few will go in the wrong direction. I get the feeling like you would like to go back to the black schools / white schools that we had back in the 60's. I think we would all lose if that happened (even if the courts were to allow it). I personally think that kids need to understand and be able to deal with others of different races and cultures.

It's not about race AT ALL. It's a bad situation for any of the kids to be transported totally out of their living area. I asked this in a prior post that you may not have seen, but what if a child bussed from a poor end out town gets sick and those parents have no car...how will they go an hour away to get a child? Maybe before they had a neighbor or family member who could pick the child up. Well what if they don't have a car either and can't get the sick child?

My point is that if they didn't bus kids an hour from where they live, this mix-up wouldn't have happened at all. When it's YOUR kindergarten student lost for a few hours, would you feel the same way as you do now?

And to set the record straight...I'm not from Louisville and know nothing of the bussing issues back in the day. My opinion has nothing to do with race but everything to do with kindergarten kids having to be on a bus for an hour. And worse yet, getting lost.
