At the heart of the issue is mismanagement of existing funds. So to compensate for their lack of accountablity and responsibility, we the tax payers are being asked to take up the slack. Oh and by the way, give them more power to abuse.

Lotteries and scratch offs are taxation! Taxation for the ignorant. They are hoping and praying that they will become rich when the odds of that is astronomical. They don't see any payoff for them for better libraries. This is utterly selfish and a shame!

I still see it as a deceptive tax that will be squandered, and will not be used for the library.
They always label a new tax so you feel guilty if you do not vote for it. It may be called the orphans tax to prevent starvation but in reality the 40 million they take from us will go into the general fund and be spent on anything they want. They will probably vote themselves a pay raise before even considering what else to spend it on.
It is always suspicious when they submit it a short time before the vote so no one has time to
research it properly and get the word out. I am
voting no on the new 40 million dollar tax "labeled as the library tax".

It is a VERY deceptive plan. From the wording of the items on the ballet to the vague information regarding how the money will be spent.
No doubt, they will successfully persuade the gullible to pass this tax.

And I am still frustatrated at how it can be legal to tax without representation?

OK Zoo.

Since you can not vote, I hope you did your part by at least putting out a sign or bumper sticker or something on your car to protest the tax.

I do not get a vote and I did. I'm not going quietly. You do nothing and you get nothing.

Anyone voting for this has no idea what the longer range implications are. How many times does a tax get passed for one thing and then ends up going for something else? Answer, all the time.

In addition, you give a department a mound of money forever and once they run out of real things to spend it on, you will see it spent on some outrageous things. Happens all the time.

This has nothing to do with the library. The library can be improved with a responsible plan.
You give Jerry and the counsel a free ride because you vote for new taxes and you may as well have a sticker that says "sucker" on your forehead. Vote for it! Maybe we can become the highest taxed city in the country, not just #6 like we are right now!

Since the poll I just read indicates that 70% of people are against this, maybe there are less "suckers" out there than I thought.
