Your kind of missing the point here and you do not know all the information.
1.) When it was proposed to these students and even some of the Shelby County staff members at the school, that the Muslim prayer be honored as well during this graduation there was a hateful and racist outpouring of threats and negative objection to the very idea.
So right there you have an ironic example in a majority disrespecting the rights of a minority and then going one further by turning into a mob.
OVER AN IDEA ALONE!
RIGHT HERE in America and over an issue of faith no less.
I think this girl did us a favor by taking out the prayer because these kids and even their own principal are obviously NOT good Christians and would rather hate with their faith then honor it.
2.) The KKK handing out their hateful filth in the hallways of a public high school and showing up to protest on school grounds is another perfect example of what prayer in a public school can cause.
They consider themselves good Christians and protectors of faith.
They also believed that this kind of protest would cause their public image to improve.
Now this could have just as easily been the taliban, the VC, the Kurgen or even Satanists for that matter. If you open the door, EVERYONE has a right to enter.
3.) Some of these students thought that "In god we trust" was written on one of the constitutional documents by the founding fathers. When I graduated from Shelby County High School in 1994
I was one of only THREE students (NOT INCLUDING THEvaledictorian that year) who could tell you 100% : the location and origin of the Parthenon, if the earth was in orbit of the sun or the other way around and the branches of government and the station of each.
The united states is still to this day 15th in education behind all other superpowers and THREE THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES.
If I can’t trust for even ONE SECOND that most of these kids can be responsible and inelegant enough with the rights they DO HAVE then why would I want to trust them with or allow them a right they do not have?
Especially after what they said about allowing an alternative or fair and equal prayer for another faith.
We have already seen the evil and malice in the hearts of people who want prayer in public school and it was the majority of those who wanted to act that way.
The reason the founding fathers wrote the first amendment as well as the other amendments in the manner they did was to protect and serve the common good while allowing us the maximum level of freedom. They knew the childishness of the thousands of years that had come before and that most of it had come because of religion. They also took into account that the last 1000 years had contained some rather bloody childishness that had been committed exclusively by people calling themselves Christians and that this was an insult to the institution of honest faith.
Because believe it or not, the founding fathers may just have been some of the most deeply religious Christians this country has ever seen. One might say that this is an example of great freedom with great responsibility.
Private schools are available and successful forms of education. They allow prayer and in this country they encompass every faith you can think of.
You can also home school OR you can simply send your kids to church more.
But before anything else, pick up a history book.
Learn, look and listen to all the facts before you claim this girl has somehow taken away YOUR rights.
Because if she actually had then you would be winning millions in the supreme court right now.
Not ONE of those students bursting out in random prayer in protest was holding up an American flag like the students who were in support of no prayer at that graduation.
Not one of them has even approached the supreme court either.
That is another very ironic and cruel example of ignorance and intolerance that again shows just how much church and state can not mix.
