I hope your boss is a little more realistic than you are in regards to faulting the road crews. No matter how well they do, there will always be a need to reduce your rate of speed and increase your following distance when we have snow, ice, freezing rain, etc. Inappropriate speed and following too close is what causes most, if not all, of these accidents yesterday. If these bozos would just leave fifteen or thirty minutes earlier, these accidents could be reduced dramatically.
As far as your allegation that our city salts streets when there is no snow, I have to assume that you're talking about the recent weekend when they put down brine in anticipation of a forcasted snow that did not materialized. Brine is most effective, I understand, when put down
prior to the snow or ice. Why are you condemning our public works department for being prepared? Why not fault the weather person??? You would be the first to blame them if we had gotten several inches of snow and they hadn't gotten the brine solution down.
You really ought to grow up. Neither forcasting or road clearing is an exact science. Further, it forever be necessary for people to adjust their driving in response to conditions. Speed
and stupidity kills.

Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy.
