That's insane! Why should all of those folks have to pay for this? Makes no sense at all.

Unfortunately, this is the law and the process can't be shortchanged. If David Camm is to be kept in prison, he has to be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a fair and just trial before his peers. Further, if David Camm is indigent, he must be afforded capable counsel and reasonable expenses encountered in presenting his defense of the charges. The costs involve are undoubtedly frustrating for New Albany taxpayers because they represent such a formidable expense for the relatively small city. One has to respect the process because it represents one of our fundamental freedoms to be free from malicious prosecution. Anything they can do to David Camm can also be done to any one of us. If his rights aren't respected, ours won't either.
