May 8th, 2007 Hot Button Guest Editorial: Fletcher's Unbridled Scandal - Text Version

Ernie has a hard time with the truth. He was swept into office on his promise to, "clean up the mess in Frankfort." Instead of a governmental cleansing, we saw politics-as-usual and many members of Governor Fletcher's cabinet (including Governor Fletcher himself) indicted. The governor has had a very persistent problem being honest and forthright with anyone, especially the voters. Ernie Fletcher squandered a rare opportunity to change the hiring practices of Kentucky state government. Instead, it seems as if he did everything he could to shut republican out of Kentucky state government for another thirty years. Mad

French Toast I agree with you !!! Ernie Fletcher is a joke, and he has the nerve to run again ?? I wonder who's money he's wasting now ? Personally, I've grown tired of the parties fighting, democrate this, republican that, just give me an honest person, who will get out there and do the job, Kentucky has some serious needs and we need someone who will see those needs, and address them and make some real changes for the good.

In regards to the public crusing on Broadway, I guess its going to take a few more lives before our City Officials take a back bone to this issue. Whats the loss of a few lives, such a small price to pay just so many others can have fun, and live it up on Derby weekend. Whats a few flying bullits, compared to all the fun you can have on Broadway ! I know some really good people go, and act in a responsible manner, but unfortunately history has taught us that a few irresponsible people can and will eventually ruin it for everyone. Its dangerous now, no way to predict what will happen, and while police are trying to control this crowd, whos controlling the rest of the community ?

What is most aggravating about Ernie Fletcher is the opportunity he squandered. Democrats have long held the upper hand in Kentucky politics, particularly state-wide offices. Paul Patton gave Kentucky Republicans an opening that allowed Ernie Fletcher in as governor. Ernie hung himself by running with the command to "clean up the mess in Frankfort". Once in office, he apparent 'forgot' that he made that campaign pledge.

My guess is that it will be another thirty years before Republicans regain the Kentucky governor's office. Paul Patton wasn't the greatest but he wasn't so boldly two-faced like Ernie. Ernie is the Kentucky Republican Party’s worst nightmare. Without two strong parties, the system doesn't work too well. Frowner Frowner Frowner

I disagree, Toast... I think Patton was just as bad as Fletcher....
They are both useless. But as you say, the most recent blunder will be what folks remember when they go to the poll, so my bet is on the Dems
