I'd like to fault the city in its recent step-up in enforcement of parking tickets. A local attorney, David Mour, has filed suit stating that the City of Louisville has failed to follow the letter of the law by not sending violators notices of the right to contest the ticket within fourteen days of issuance. The City of Louisville responds that doing this would simply be too expensive.
This attorney has been blasted for trying to use a technicality to get out of paying his parking tickets. As much as I hate to side with any lawyer , I have to agree with the guy. If state law requires a notice within fourteen days, then that's the procedure that Louisville Metro must follow if it hopes to collect on parking tickets. If the law is "too expensive", then the city should persuade Frankfort to change the state law governing parking tickets. Citizens to not have the right to pick and choose which laws they're going to follow - neither should Louisville Metro.
BTW: The local independent television station has both a text and video of this lawyer's response on its website.
My real name is Frenchi Babè.

what was the final word on this? I personally think the law is a bit much.... If you have had more than 5 parking tickets, you should be well aware. I think a simple card in the mail advising you that in 3 days, your car will be towed should be sufficient...
