I am a combat veteran and have walked with death. Why should the government be able to tell me I have to wear a seat belt as I am 21 years of age and have walked the fight. The real problem with our air comes from our industry and the mayor needs to regulate that and not twenty years down the road. I think it is time we change mayor myself. Keep the government out of our business.
As much as I'm opposed to government interference of Darwinism in practice, the "rights" you speak of have effects which aren't limited to you. If you think instituting laws which are aimed at protecting citizens constitutes "communism", then let me be the first to point you in the direction of some online resources such as wikipedia.com to help you develop a more sound definition of communism.
And if that doesn't float your boat, communist china (according to BBC health article) currently has a smoking related death rate of 2,000 people
per day and growing. Russia (a federation, not communist) is pretty much smoke wherever you want (in govt buildings, hospitals, schools... it's a smokers heaven). Feel free to follow your dreams of maybe one day being tethered to an oxygen tank while you're "walking with death" as you claim.
It's an expensive addiction that is killing people and those exposed to their smoke second hand. But it looks like Metro Council is going to cave in and allow businesses to install separate ventilation systems judging from the last proposed smoking ban.
I'm just a bit upset with the metro council if you couldn't tell. But hooray! Smokers get to continue killing themselves and Darwinism wins again in the pursuit to keep profits up at Churchill Downs. Woo hoo. LOL, idiots. I guess the taxes collected during race season outweigh the economic burden the taxpayers face from smoking related medical issues of the elderly both from state and federal assistance programs. From dog laws to this, I'm convinced the metro council is utterly incompetent. All I can do is avoid smoking places and wait to vote.
