There is a reason the military uses alternate terms and codes,... wait,... you would know this if you were ever in the military.
It might be a term you use, but it was never used in the military when I was in. Again, had YOU served, you'd know that. I did serve... and we never used the terms "service number" nor "serial number" in reference to soldiers. Strictly the term "social security number".
Again, I think you watch too many old war movies where they say "only give your name, rank, and serial number if captured." Like I said, we didn't have "serial numbers", we had social security numbers.
It comes from Article 17 of the Geneva Convention which states:
Article 17
Every prisoner of war, when questioned on the subject, is bound to give only his surname, first names and rank, date of birth, and army, regimental, personal or serial number, or failing this, equivalent information. If he wilfully infringes this rule, he may render himself liable to a restriction of the privileges accorded to his rank or status. But it bears the same impact as asking someone of youth today if they bought the new "cassette" or "record" of a particular group. Huh? Serial number? I knew what you meant, but it still stands: we didn't have serial numbers. We had social security numbers.
Getting back to the original topic of the thread, let's try to narrow the topic down. Here's the main points from the first post:
1. We need casinos.
2. Wisconsin has free healthcare.
3. So does Canada.
4. Hernia's take longer to heal here.
5. "Illegals" are working for less than minimum wage and not paying taxes.
6. Investment firms are capitalizing on global markets like Communist China.
7. Prisoners should work.
8. We have too high a prison population while good people die of common/easily curable ailments.
9. Let's not turn america into a leper colony.
10. China again.
Hmmmm.... ok. How about this... We should get chinese prisoners with hernias to work in Wisconsin hospitals to compete with canadian casinos so good people with common ailments don't die in a leper colony run by illegals making less than minimum wage while investment firms get rich in chinese markets.
Sound good?
