ArmyWife,
PRIDE isn't found out there like it used to be. I know EXACTLY what you mean. However, you WILL find it at my house. I live directly across from Dan's aunt Sally. He truly is a Hometown hero. I have a son in the sandbox right now. He gave up a 4 year scholarship to enlist in the Army to answer a call to serve God and Country. He didn't go for money for college, he already had that. He went out of Patriotic and Christian duty.
When he deployed, DEC 2005, I felt a need to do something more than just sit around reading dod.gov e-mails. So I started a local chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. We are SOUTHERN INDIANA BLUE STAR MOMS - Chapter #2. I contacted the Courier-Journal and The New Albany Tribune in December to get them to do a story so other military moms would know we are here. We provide support for our troops and the families left behind, as well as for our veterans.
The Courier-Journal did a small article on us, with a picture. However, I was floored by the story the Tribune did! It was a beautiful story with a large picture. A quarter of a page for Blue Star Moms! I received a lot of calls from moms who just wanted to talk. Some cried and I shared tears with them. However, we military families are very PATRIOTIC and PROUD of our SOLDIERS. Whether you support the war or not... it's not about that. It's about being a TRUE AMERICAN and SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS. They need us.
I've e-mailed all of the news channels to try to get them to do a story on our Group. The closest Blue Star support groups are in Lexington, KY and in Indianapolis and Crawfordsville, IN. Nothing else closer. However, they just ignore me. How's that for community support and WAVE-3 CARES?????
Again... IT'S ALL ABOUT SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS and being a PATRIOTIC AMERICAN.
If anyone out there wants to know how to join So. IN Blue Star Moms - my e-mail is INBLUESTARMOM@INSIGHTBB.COM
We are here for the whole Kentuckiana Area. I even have members from Lebanon Junction.
Thanks and GOD BLESS AMERICA!
