I found Todd Brimm’s attempt at justifying the Iraq war very amusing.
This supposed expert on domestic terrorism obviously has no clue when it comes to the actual history of Islam and terrorism in the world.
I found it most interesting that Todd used the Russian occupation of Afghanistan as an example of how fanatic Islamic militants became empowered by defeating the occupation.
What Todd quite convienently leaves out of his version of history is that this victory would not have come without the US having given aid to a certain group of Afghani freedom fighters lead by none other then Ossama Bin ladden.
After the Russians pulled out of Afghanistan, the US had no problem with giving MORE aid to the Taliban regime that was taking power in the absence of the Russian occupation.
George W. Bush had even invited officials from the Taliban government to the state of Texas during his term as governor.
Todd also neglects to mention that THIS conflict in Iraq has nothing to do with domestic terrorism.
While The conflict in Afghanistan DOES.
We entered Iraq on bad planning and under false pretenses that had nothing to do with terrorism.
The administration has repeatedly confirmed this.
Which makes Todd Brimm’s claims entirely at odes with what the president now says and what our forces serving in Iraq have always known about the mission (or lack there of) there.
There are aspects of Islamic terrorism that we all have to come to terms with.
Our leaders share much of the guilt because of trusting the wrong governments and placing blame where it did not belong.
That kind of mending takes understanding and a revision of our efforts rather then a revision of history and making more of a problem out of an already out of control situation.
What I don’t find surprising in all of this is that a Tabloid Pundit like Brimm would be so short sighted not to see that his remarks, not only undermined the efforts of the President to make up for these mistakes but it also exposes some rather unsavory facts behind the history of the taliban, Bin Ladden and Al Quieda that this administration would rather not see in the media anymore.
I’m half wondering is Brimm is actually trying to make this President and this war look worse by trying to make himself look so ignorant.
Sorry Todd, I’m not buying it and I’m pretty sure anyone with half a brain isn’t buying it either.
In fact, I’m willing to go back on wave3 hot button in support of the thousands of viewers who know better then to buy this kind of tabloid crap or allow it on a local network that should pay more attention to the facts itself.
Sincerely,
Justin La Plante
