to address those cars that park on the streets during the posted no parking between such and such a time? For instance, Bardstown Road clearly states no parking from 7:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m., and sure enough SOMEONE is always parked there, thereby completely stopping traffic in that one lane.
And as anyone that commutes knows, when someone parks there, it stops the smooth flow of traffic. If traffic is heavy, you can't get around the 'illegal parker' and over into the other lane, which leads to traffic jams, which leads to accidents and/or road rage.
I realize the police can't be on all the streets and roads. However, maybe if they started handing out double fines and/or towing these violators, then people would stop parking there.
Any ideas of what we can do as a community to get this addressed?
I would try calling the Louisville Metro Police non-emergency numbers. They are (502) 574-7111 for urban and (502) 574-2111 for suburban. I would think that the potential ticket revenue and maintenance of smooth traffic flow would motivate police officials to do something.
Another option would be to attend one of the mayor's community meetings. The next meeting is scheduled Monday night at 6:30 pm in the small gymnasium of Butler High school at 2222 Crums Lane. They ask that you fill out a short community meeting form so they can track the resolution of the concern. You can always check for the community meetings and other matters of metro interest by visiting www.louisvilleky.gov .
Hopes this helps.
