Two women who killed abusive mates win parole

I can recall several Kentucky women who have been sentenced in past years for killing abusive husbands. I think some leniency is called for when dealing with wives who have killed husbands where the evidence strongly suggests serious abuse occurred. Dogs will turn mean if you mistreat them repeatedly. There's no reason to think that human beings aren't subject to going over the edge, too, if similarly mistreated. To jail someone who has suffered great mistreatment at the hands of her husband does seem to be a great miscarriage of justice. The home can serve to hide all sorts of horrible mistreatment from the outside world. Frowner

The fear of he will get me no matter where I go is on the police to protect them. Often times R.Os and E.P.Os go unnoticed and as a result the women die.

This is very difficult to evaluate from the outside. One just does not know what went on in the home or how threatened the spouse felt. On the other hand, unless their life is threatened at that particular moment, why is it any less of a crime than the homeowner who shoots the intruder even though they could escape out the back door...
I guess i just don't understand...

All honesty I don't need to know what goes on or went on in the homes. If your mate is that horrible of a person then leave. If he or she finds you then you go to the police.
If my husband ever hit me or my kids I'd leave. He'd probably find me,but I'd be legally armed to defend myself INCASE the police could not get there fast enough to save me and I was left to save myself. I don';t buy into all of the I didn't have anywhere to go,I had no money, why should I have to leave,.....I don't buy into that he just tried to attack me stuff when you've made no attempts to get out of the situation. Sounds like bs to me.

on a different but related note.... It would seem that it is awfully easy to get an EPO.
I know people who have taken them out as well as people who have had them taken out against them. Not that they are worth anything more than the paper they are written on, but it is a bit disturbing that the process to get one is so easy.
Again, this is a bit second hand, but from what I understand, you just go in and say someone hit you and BAM! EPO, There is no initial investigation, the person it is taken out against does not get chance to dispute.
But then again, if it is a real threat, I would not want to wait for the investigation. No suggestion here for improvement, just disturbing....
