Free Hugs ScotlandWe in the U.S. seem to be so quick to equate any kind of bodily contact as being sexual in nature. I firmly believe that humans have a need to touch and be touched yet everything around us in the States seems to be moving towards preventing that. Even in elementary schools, young girls have been disciplined for hugging other girls, presumably under the no PDA's (Public Displays of Affection) mindset.
What a sad state of affairs we have gotten ourselves into. A hug, I believe, has the power to minimize a lot of hurts and even heal. What a shame that we look upon it as something necessarily sexual.
