I have always liked living in the city just because I like having various stores close, the fire houses,police,hospitals,..... I have not wanted to live in the country.

I have lately been having an urge to live on a farm or at least in the country. No I don't want to go on Wife Swap or any of those reality shows for you who watch them-haha.
I think Zoo and Angel live in the country or one lives on a farm,it may have even been KYwoman or Caroline(I can't remember). I just want some insight of the living there.
Do you ever get bored or tired of traveling miles and miles to get what you need?
What is it like trying to get to the hospital or having the police get to you?

Right on all of us, I believe.
I do live on a farm. I have been here for about 15 years. It is ,at this moment, around 23 acres. We have 5 horses, 8 dogs now,{6 puppies,} around 39 chickens ,more or lessBig Grin,3 ducks and 3 cats. I love living out in the country. I have never needed the police, so that may tell you a lot right there. We have never needed any medical emergency, except when my son totaled his pick-up, and they were there in the blink of an eye. You may think that living way out is an inconvience, but it isnt. I enjoy the ride when I go someplace to shop. It does get to be a hassel when I am in a hurry, but you plan around those things. I allowed my children out and me not be there when they were smaller, there was no need to worry, we lived all around his family. The thing I like about living in the coun try is at night it is so peacefull, you look up at the stars and really see them ,not have to look up thru all the smog.Be prepared to live on a farm MJ,it is a lot of work, depending on how big ,what animals and so forth. But with children ,I recomend it.They are so much happier,or at least my were. They can play in the creek go on walks in the fireld, play hide n go seek at night outside, all kinds of things to do that you dont have to worry about some child snatcher.I love my little piece of heaven. Are you and hubby thinking of moving to the country or are you just pondering ?

I would like to,but he doesn't. I think our children will be out of the house before I ever talk him into it. Eeker I have no doubts having a farm is hard work. My grandfather was a farmer and as a child I loved going to their house. So you don't ever wonder if someone is hiding in the woods? That honestly is my concern. Perhaps I should put an electric fence up eh? Hehe. I do think I would like to live in the country. I guess I have pretty much had enough of the city living. Hub would never go for it. Frowner

I have always lived in the country. I was raised in the boonies of Nelson Co. so country livin is nothing new to me!!
Something else also, if a stranger is prowling around out here on our property and if they arent hunting or doing work for us, we dont need to call the police, we have trusty ole pistol or never miss shotgun!!
Remember the 8 dogs? I dont think I will ever have to worry about someone hiding in the woods. That is a litte far away from me anyway. Our land is cleared for the horses and the bigger pond we are planning to have dug in the next little bit. Does your hubby like animals? If he does, just tell him that he could have that animal he has always been wanting if you guys lived in the country.Give him that guilt trip. Big Grin
And to live in the country anymore dosent mean you have to go 300 miles away to get there.Maybe you could talk him into getting a small piece of land somewhere close to the city, that way he wont feel so "out there" . Country living is the best! I couldnt go to the city or even a small town to live, I like the isolation of living on a farm with all the freedoms of being able to walk out in my nightgown and not having to worry if someone can see me, except for my in-laws. Big Grin
I do have an electric fence up and my horses dont even come up next to it, it will shock the bejebbers out of em.The work on a farm all depends upon how much acreage you guys would want. I recomend ,if you can get hubby to agree with the move ,is to start out small. A hobby farm maybe. Just to get the feel of things. It that dosent work out ,it would be easier to sell like that.Have fun!!

My sister lives on a small farm, but she's pushing my brother-in-law for a bigger one. I've asked hub to go horse riding with me and he won't. So I doubt it will be farm like if I was able to get him into the country. He'd be ok with a couple of dogs and I would want ducks. He doesn't like cats,or the smell of pigs and cows. He used to work on a family farm back when he was 14 and he said he'd never have a farm. Anyhow he's a business owner so I think that has alot to do with why he won't move. He does house calls working on computers. One day I will talk him into it. Smiler
