This isn't back in the day where you could hug someone without getting jailed or sued.

Hold on there, M.J. If you checked out the linked video, you would have seen that these young people were in public venues holding signs saying, "Free hugs". Consequently, anyone engaging in a hug with these youth would be regarded as participating in these hugs of their own free will and willlingly accepting all normal circunstances of your usual, run-of-the-mill hug. Smiler

Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy.

I am not judging the article.

I am employed with JCPS and the FIRST thing they taught us in New Hire Class is "Do NOT,under any circumstances hug a student, touch a student, not even a high five,do not allow any student to hug you or hop up on your lap,or hug you."

Also:

"Do not encourage hugs between students."

"If you see or know of such things going on,stop it right away."

This prevents MISunderstandings. This protects everyone as long as they follow the rule(s).

Nothing about hand shakes was mentioned.

I understand where you're coming from, shaggy. This would obviously not work well as schools, work places, etc. The huggging in the video was done by total strangers, in public, for brief periods of time.

In this particular scenario, I don't see any significant room for problems. Smiler
