Yep, many years ago, I was a teacher. I have taught in both public and private schools... and definitely have an opinion on this matter! I think very few parents (who have not obtained a degree in education) have the skills to home school beyond about the 5th grade. Even private schools struggle to provide the educational opportunities available in public schools, ie- chemistry, biology, calculus, accounting, etc. Additionally, schools provide a socialization opportunity that kids that are home schooled don't get. I know some argue that the public schools are not safe, kids are exposed to drugs, alcohol, etc. That may be true, but keeping them in a glass bubble does not teach them how to resist the temptations which I feel is very important. I could go on, but I will take a breath as I am sure more than a few will dispute my opinion.

Great insight! I appreciate it. Tell me more when you get time.

Sorry to disappoint you, ZOO, but I'm inclined to agree with you. A kid is going to have to live with other when they grow up so why not have them learn to deal with others as they grow up?
