Better study up on your history lessons. Besides, any reference to former Pres. Nixon is totally off topic.
I'm pretty up to date with my history, thanks. Nixon--planted listening devices...aka--listening to conversations. Bush-- listens to calls made. Off topic? Not.

Here's a thought. Let's quit getting so hostile toward people with different opinions and just think about what they have to say. Everyone on here has a good point, and I think if we paid attention we could find a solution to the "problem", instead of just getting angry for anger's sake.

quote: Yes. Just as people choose to smoke. Nobody makes them! Grow up kiddo. I can live anywhere I want, but I choose to live where I am.
Ok, that's pretty pig-headed, don't you think? That's just like saying all people CHOOSE to be fat. It doesn't work that way. In all honesty, I think you are right. If you want to become a citizen, that's great, but you are going to have to follow the procedures that we have put in place to keep our nation safe, and quite frankly, there should be a limit to how many foreigners can become citizens each year. But to say that people choose the way they live, basically saying that being poor is a choice that every poor person makes is just wrong. You have a very poor perception of the world. Maybe you've never experienced spending time in someone else's shoes, but I guarentee you that not every poor person chooses that life. I spent a week with one of the greatest women I have ever met in the Appalachian mountains. She lived in a trailer in a town that was once a prosperous coal mining town, but is now one of the poorest places in the U.S. These people don't have the money to leave where they are today. They didn't choose that life, it was what was handed to them and they are simply making the best of what they can. We were building this woman a roof because she didn't have the money to pay someone to build it for her because she was trying to support her son, who was a hard working man who was in an accident while at work and can no longer keep his job. Their town has nothing else for him, so now he and his family, a wife and two sons, are living with his mother in her two room trailer because his wife's work wasn't enough to support the family. Don't tell me that people always choose the way they live, and that when you see a poor person it is their fault, because you are WRONG!

Perhaps some posters sound angry in postings when they really are not. It's easy to read emotions into written words. "Okay, that's pretty pig-headed...", "...because you are WRONG" sounds worse than the poster meant it? I like to think my 'voice' is one of reason, but some may see it as "pig-headed". There are a squillion boards out there in cybersapce full of vitriole and hatred. This is one that seemed pretty respectful to me. I hope it continues to be and that more posters will appreciate and learn from the exchange of ideas and opinions.

I didn't mean to sound rude. I was speaking out of feelings, and I probably went to far. Sorry about that.
