Because some people try to keep up with everybody else. Me? I am content with what I have. I know that if it wasnt for God and His blessings on me and my family,we wouldnt be where we are this day. Me? I am very blessed and thankful for what I have !

Looks like I might actually get a bailout soon myself under the Recovery Rebate Credit. I got only $300 of a potential $600 tax stimulus rebate last year. (I have very meager earnings in 2007.) I understand that I will have a chance to claim the other $300 by using my 2008 earnings to qualify for the rest of the tax stimulus. Hooray. I win!!!

Our CPA told us the same thing, that even though we got the amount they said we would get back on last years income tax rebate check ,we may be entitled to more this year IF our income didnt come to a certain amount,or that was the way I understood him. But I am not holding my breath over any amount. Have you heard that Ca. is handing out IOU`S as their tax rebate checks ??? Look at how far Lou.is in debt. How many millions ?? How did they allow things to get so bad and how are they planning to fix things???? I am telling you people, it is going to get worse and worse. Buckle up and hold on . Its gonna be a bumpy ride.

Louisville is not running a deficit yet. Mayor Abramson has acted promptly to keep the Metro budget balanced. Those efforts have been well chronicled by WAVE 3 and others.
What happened is that Louisville Metro and the state of Kentucky both got hit blindsided by the sudden downturn in the national and world economy. There was no way anyone could have predicted this downturn. When layoffs ramp up, people aren't able to work and pay taxes. Unemployment claims escalate and so forth.
You're right, Angel. It's going to be a rough ride. I'm very glad to be working for the federal government right now. No layoffs expected for a while.
If Louisville continues to pass legislation that curtails the rights of its citizens and visitors, recovery will VERY slow.
Lousivlle has historically been the home of the largest (most entries) AKC show in the US. The new dog ordinances kept many people away last year(took their dogs and money to more hospitable cities) and as a result we did not get their food and lodging dollars. I expect the entries will be even lower this year. With the economy being what it is, folks are going to really pick and chose what shows they attend and coming to a city that is hostile to their interests won't be on the list.
