Whew, that was a doozy! My neighbor lost a major branch on an old-growth tree. The tree will likely have to come down. My yard is littered with branches. A couple of my neighbors have lost substantial portions of their roofs. One lost a porch awning.
If this was the after effects of Ike, I don't want to see a full-fledged hurricane up close.
thankfully when we got home from the lake, just small limbs and leaves.... But, geeze... you would think with all that wind and angry looking clouds, we could have gotten a little rain!

I feel so bad for all the folks without power and now I hear it may be 10-14 days before power is restored to some areas. Not to fear though, the Ryder Cup will go on as tremendous effort has been expended to get power restored to that area and to remove the debri.

Can you really blame them??? The Ryder Cup is a chance for Louisville to sparkle and shine before the eyes of the world. It can't be rescheduled. I would expect that the mayor and the governor will be meeting with the heads of corporations they've been courting urging them to come to Louisville.
Who knows? Perhaps if the Ryder Cup is a big success, maybe we can kill that rumor about Kentuckians running around barefooted all summer. This is a great chance for Louisville and Kentucky to raise its stature.
