I saw television stations doing crawler at the bottom of the screen warning of winter snow advisories two days ahead of time! Do we really to work up this kind of fervor over a system that is expected to bring 3 - 5 inches of snow?
Why stop the blame there? How about the National Weather Service, they issued the alerts.
Maybe we should have a referendum that mandates no weather warnings before a set period of time and jail terms for those who issue snow advisories more than 2 days before the event.
I guess it all depends on whether or not you are worked into a fervor by text crawling on the bottom of the screen. It's just information.
Sort of a necessity in this information age. Ahh, the price of progress!
Perhaps you have a point there. I'm sure someone would want to bring them up on charges if they didn't issue prominent warnings several days ahead of time.
One other consideration I might mention is that 3- 5 inches snowballed (pun intended) into something like 12 - 16 inches for Louisville back in 1997. I think that accounts for a lot of our hysteria regarding snow.
My response was intended to be somewhat tongue in cheek.
But really, it's just information. Why get so worked up over weather warnings? Of course, I fully expect the city to be absent of bread and milk by tomorrow at Noon.
I'll be at home sipping a nice egg nog by the fire. Cheers!
I hate being cold. I refuse to drive in sloppy wet, snowy streets so on that note if ya know a week ahead of time DO broadcast it! I will know how many sets of clothes to put on and whatnot as well as get my grocery shopping out of the way before I am down to a sip of milk and 2 slices of bread and there's snow everywhere.
