I would like to congratulate Wave3 for being responsible and not acknowledging this bunk award.
While Bill Lamb at Fox is just gushing over this award without actually checking its credibility, most media outlets and the general public of Louisville seem to know better.
Which points out that even though Louisville is not safer, cleaner, healthier or more economically sound than the other cities nominated for this award, at least the people are starting to see there is a real problem and refuse to take credit where it obviously is not due?
I have yet to see actual numbers presented by this committee during this national mayor’s conference that even begin to prove how Louisville Kentucky can be called the most “livable” city in the US.
The city is more polluted than any of the other cities nominated for this award.
Louisville DEFINITELY has a higher crime rate and poorer health index than Miami and Seattle put together.
I’ve been to Seattle and I did not find one area of that city where it smelled like open sewage 24/7.
It isn’t even plausible that the education system and average IQ in Louisville is even comparable for the fact that it ranks below the national average almost as a constant.
I think the problem is with the name of this award.
Most “livable” is a very lucid term. It sounds like “bestest” or “most improved” so it doesn’t exactly need to encompass anything like an actual record or statistic that would designate that the city actually has a higher standard of living than any of the other cities nominated.
Was the deciding factor one of the tax cuts for rich people in the east end, the most despotic HMO in the world being seated in Louisville or a $90,000 annual salary increase for ONE employee at a learning institution that is hiking tuition, cutting jobs and cutting benefits?

Instead of bashing your hometown all the time, why not get involved with the effort to make it better. Brightside has made great strides in making Louisville cleaner and more beautiful. If your time is limited, you could volunteer just one hour a week with the Jefferson County School system in their Every1 Reads program. http://every1reads.org/

I also noticed that you took the opportunity to disparage the collective IQ in Louisville. Have you really isolated yourself so much that you believe this??? The Louisville Fund for the Arts just surpassed their fundraising goal despite a very tough economy. I don't think you're going to find a lot of intellectual dwarfs attending Actors Theater or a Kentucky Opera production. http://www.fundforthearts.com/

However, when I read statement by you like the one above I have to realize that you really don't care how good or bad Louisville is compared to other areas. I realize that you're just a very unhappy person determined to be miserable wherever you find yourself.

Yes, Louisville is not perfect but if you're really interested there are a lot of opportunities to make it better. Louisville does have its fair share of brain power and our environmental quality of life compares quite well with that of other cities.

My dad once told me that any old fool can tear something down but that it takes a real person to build something up. I would say that advice applies to you. Anyone can lay back and bellyache, Mr. La Plante. I urge you to get involved and take ownership of this city. Let's all propel Louisville forward!

It's easier for him to sit and belittle Louisville than to do anything good. Wink
I doubt there is less crime in "Miami and Seattle put together." Drugs in Miami top us in a flat second. Shytown has their great deals of "street wrath." Crime is everywhere and Louisville isn't highest on the list I'm sure. Cali is pretty big on crime.

I see Mr. Birchak (using "mr. snowman pants"-my name from my myspace page) has decided to roll his real life stalking onto the wave3 forum.
Michael, you were blocked from my email, blocked from my myspace groups, blocked from my myspace in box, blocked from my cell phone and blocked from my youtube in box.

This is just sad.

I am not the reason the FCC slapped you with those fines or the reason that woman in Lexington is suing you over fraud.
I also was not the one video tapping you sexually harrassing those girls at the Rhythm party and vandalising an ATM machine.

Stalking me is not going to solve your problems.
French toast could learn a thing or two from what is happening to you.
