Zoo,you and I must be the only two tightwads left in Ky . I think having Dish,Directv or any other satt.service to be a luxury, not a have to have. And yes I still have dial-up. I dont think I can get any thing else where I live and I dont think I would even if I could. I am not willing to pay $30 or more just so I can play on the computer. If I relied upon it for work, that would be another story all together. But I dont ,so I dont have the need to shell out more money than is necessary.Things are tight and I cant justify spending money I may not have .
Joshua 24:15,,,but as for me and my house,we will serve the Lord.

Folks don't feel alone, we don't have anything but regular T.V. and as far as internet, if we can get a connection on wireless then more power to us. When the auto industry shutdown that put my husband off of work until they go back. He doesn't work for Ford or G.M. or Chrisler but all thoes vehicals need lights, and if a mold is not running a quality lins or reflector and it cannot be put together air tight and water tight it does not get his signiture, if it's not good enought for him it's not good enought for anyone, so we put enjoyable things on the back burner for now! We have played more games with the girls and read more books then we ever have, and enjoyed it! Uno Attack is a blast!

I received an e-mail a few days ago with a poem (maybe prose) about a Grandpa who, as it turns out, intentionally shut down the electricity. That little fact was unknown to the family members who were in their own little electronic worlds. The family read, played games, talked...and thoroughly enjoyed each others company. It was declared the best Christmas ever.
Vic, I'm sure your girls are thoroughly enjoying your attention and care during this time. They will look back on it with great fondness as the best of their lives.

I have broadband, Angel, not to "play" on the computer but to access information quickly and easily. While unemployed, I filed for unemployment benefits instead of driving across the river. When I need a tax information, I check out www.irs.gov . When I need to check my insurance statement or my payroll record, I do it quickly and easily via the internet. Mark Goldstein of NetZero has appeared in ads touting the potential savings of ditching broadband for NetZero at $9.99 a month. I'm not biting. I remember dialup and waiting 20 to 30 seconds for every new page to load. I remember dialup and not being able to watch most online videos. I remember dialup and not being able to receive phone calls while online. I pity anyone who is still stuck with dialup.
President Obama has expressed an interest in expanding broadband to rural Americans. I hope he does. There are so many things that I don't have to visit an office or make a phone call for any more thanks to broadband. Once you have broadband, you'll never want to go back.
That's what's wrong with the government now...too much money going out to pay for all these teen-agers having babies and then all the women who know they can't afford a baby, but they know they will get a "check" for it. What will they do when people decide to stop paying for what could have been prevented in the first place. BIRTH CONTROL IS FREE AT THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT....
