I will say for the record that it is a shame that our Metro government hasn't seen fit to maintain its firehouses in a safe, sanitary, and pleasant conditions. I think that the men and women who protect our community and its citizens should have livable conditions to work in. Dealing with rats and crumbling plaster should not be part of their job description. Roll Eyes

Right! Can you see it? Driver trying to get out of the building with crap falling on top of the engine? Eeker

Yes, it is a shame.... but I also wonder if there is not something the fire fighters can do to help themselves here... I really have no idea how much time a fire fighter ends up out on a call vs being at the station waiting for something to happen. I am sure they have chores to do around the firehouse, but suspect there is some idle time as well. Would it be so horrible for them to set some traps? I am not trying to start something here, but I am a big believer in a person doing what they can to help themselves.....

ZOO, I though the very same thing when the story originally aired. Before I'd sleep with rats running around the station I'd set some traps even if I had to pay for them myself. I did like the way the firefighters called the media in, it caused extreme embarrasment to the Abramson adminstration.

The first lesson in holes, if you find yourself in one, quit digging.
