Being a teenager who has a myspace, what is the news and schools obsession with checking our myspaces and then punishing us if we have something inappropiate. What we do outside of school is ourbusiness and its almost like an invasion of privacy. Yes, the myspace is a public thing...but if you are going to get suspended from school or get into any kind of trouble because of it, then it does become an invasion privacy. Teenagers are going to have a good time while they are young. Myspace is just a place to expres yourself and who you are, while communicating with your friends in a common place. The new broadcasters and the staff at various high schools need to mind their own business and let teens be teens!

Teens are their business. And if the teens are going into websites that are off limits while on school computers and on school grounds,then the schools do have that right .

As not a teen-ager, will you please explain to what are you referring? Myspace is totally unknown to me.

Angel, I think you are missing the point. Some schools are disiplining students for even having pages on MySpace. It doesn't have anything to do with visiting sites during school hours or on school property. There have been reports of students using it as a forum to degrade teachers and others within certain schools. Some have posted photos of themselves in rather explicit fashion. This is not a problem confined to our area, it's a national one. The folks who run MySpace started with good intentions, they have just become a gathering ground for people who feed off the "too much" public information posted by unsuspecting children and teens.

Kayla, being a teen, I think you are not seeing the dangers associated with providing too much personal information in a public forum such as MySpace. The reaction of schools may seem harse, but they are trying to protect. There are people using MySpace as a trolling ground; sexual predators, pedophiles and the like. Not everyone on the internet are really who they claim to be. Caution is definitely advised here.

No, Admin, I did not miss the point. But you are right about the net being a place where a teen may think they are conversing with another teen when they may be conversing with a sex fiend who preys on children. It does pay to keep some things to yourself. I went to that site and into the forum.I could not believe what the supposed" 14 year old" had posted.
