Well actually, the law doesn't allow crusing anywhere in Jefferson county. Folks 'cruise' Bardstown Road but they don't stop traffic, they don't have sex on the hoods of cars, they don't smoke pot openly, they don't shoot someone over something stupid, they (females) don't parade around without their tops, they don't drive around with open containers of alcohol, etc. I wonder why someone (churches or others) couldn't sponsor a car show in Shawnee park. Everyone could show off their rides while leaving the streets including Broadway relatively open. Strict rules could be posted as to no drinking, no lewdness, etc. The only question is whether or not the out-of-town element that ruined Broadway cruising would abide by rules regardless of the venue. Policing helps obviously but people will often do things in a crowds that they wouldn't do on their own. Having a lot of partiers around emboldens many. All the same, a car show in Shawnee park could be tried. Maybe an entry fee for show cars could be charged and a prize(s) given for the best.

""I think this is the one opportunity for black businesses, it's like their Christmas," said Gracie Lewis, co-chair of the Black Caucus. "It's like when they break even. We're talking $90 to $100 million, and I think that's the real issue, that we're being in lockdown."" Ninety to a hundred million dollars during Derby Cruising. Get real! Broadway businesses may have done well during past Derbys but a $100 million. I'd be opening my own shops of Broadway if that were true.
