It happens in school when a few ruin it for everyone. Anyone that truly thinks this is racial motivated should rethink. Most people saying it is racial are just using this tactic because it has worked before. Bullying the police department into getting what you want will never work. It seems like the derby festivities and back yard derby parties are too lame for the westenders. Derby cruising is not a Derby event. It is cruising on Derby day. The residents that live in the westend didn't like what went on but most will not vocalize this publically because of fear of retailation. Isn't that a great way to live!

Dear Lea1, It is not me who can't grasp what is happening here. If safety is the issue what about the other 364 days of the year????Jerry can't pizz down my back and tell me it's raining. It's about money $$$$$ there is no noble cause here to protect the westend,it is called containment...

Oh give it a rest, Phoenix. Roll Eyes LMPD can't win when it comes to protecting the west end. If the police shoot a robber who was intent on stealing money or goods from a business, you can count on people second guessing the police. 'Why did you have to kill this young man? He was getting his act together. Why couldn't you have shot him in the leg?'

People get shot in the West end and nobody sees any thing. I can understand not running after the police with your hand held high but how about dropping a dime on the killer? The LMPD has even partnered with West end ministers so that tips on crimes can be made anonymously.

You can't have it both ways, Phoenix. Do you want to live in peaceful law and order or do you want to live in riotous mayhem where you take before someone takes from you? Do you want your want your wife or girlfriend to be able to travel safely or do you want another brother to be able to do a 'booty call' on her whenever the notion strikes them? Roll Eyes

Most of that money comes from taxpayers. I'm not willing to have my taxes go up or have my city services reduced so that these businesses can get a 'free' monetary gift. Things change and these black-owned businesses can learn to roll with the punches, just like other businesses do.

What a Joke! Your saying it's alright to harm those businesses on Broadway, in a all black neighborhood ,sponsored by all blacks, a area you or anyone you know would never go. That's beyond arrogance, even for you French Toast, thats Hateful. But what would I expect from a person that felt that Katrina victims got what they deserved.
TO ALL, THIS IS NOT ABOUT RACISM NOR CRUISING IT IS ABOUT RIGHT AND WRONG.

Again, Phoenix, the intent is not to harm Broadway businesses. The goal is peaceful law and order. Are we going to start 'compensating' gas stations and other businesses when we have to block access to their establishments to repave the roads or do sewer repairs? Life happens and all businesses have to adapt. Any business person, white or black, must learn to adapt or perish. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
