Bland, who has owned the restaurant for about 25 years, says closing West Broadway in 2006 cost her thousands of dollars last year.

"Twenty-four dollars made for the entire weekend and that's a real big weekend for us," Bland said.

Bland says in the past, when Broadway was open to cruising, she has made as much as $4,000 to $5,000 per day.

Then all I can say is she needs to oput out a sign that says something like they are open and to please stop by and a polite reminder to not cruise or hang out in the lot. *Shrugs*

Colonel Harland Sanders had to sell his first motel and cafe when the I-75 was built. Any business person worth his or her salt knows that change is constant. One has to adapt and change or you will perish quickly in the business world. I suspect that LMPD will loosen up the reigns next year if no significant incidences occur this year. Roll Eyes

I still don't understand why the businesses lost income. From what I have seen, during the cruising, Broadway was like one big parking lot, so folks would have had to walk to the businesses anyway. So if the street is closed to cruising, folks can still walk, right?
