Church volunteer wanted by police turns himself in

I saw this guy squirming on the news earlier this evening trying to evade filming by the TV cameras. Don't they realize that their mug shots will be released to the media??? Man up and show people your face!

He was a youth volunteer at his church, and has been on the Indiana Sex Offender Registry since early this year for trying to solicit oral sex from a 13 year old girl over the internet.

Maybe the media could put more emphasis on how easy it would be for any organization to screen the adults that have direct contact with kids. It's not a guaranteed screening (a national database is needed), but in this case it would have worked.

Selected the verify button then clicked the "Acknowledge" link which takes me to another page. I typed "grose" in the last name section of the Offender Search and hit the "search registry" link. It was that easy. This guy should have never been allowed near the children.

Having faith in God is one thing, having faith in someone just because they claim to be a "follower" is completely naive. A 30 second offender registry check would have kept this guy from becoming a volunteer at this church. In my opinion, other churches, organizations, and businesses should make the same minimal effort to at least minimize the risk of trusting someone they shouldn't. Even if it's only to protect their own reputation!

Yea, that is a scary thing to know that a sex crimnal is living close to you. I have been to the site before and the same 4 are still within a 5 mile radius,more or less,of where I live. You never lnow who lives right at your door anymore.Scary.

Why does a young, handsome man like this guy gravitate towards underage teens??? Is it a power play with them??? Is it a defect in their psychology??? Why are so many men willing to ruin their lives pursuing this kind of depravity???
