I have been riding a motorcycle for 10 years and every year it gets more dangerous.I drive also but in the summer im om my bike 90 percent of the time.I will have people look right at me and still pull out.If i spend 3 hours on my bike on any given day i will have at least 2 or 3 near death experience.Alot of people think all motorcyclist speed. And thats not true.Alot do but alot do not.A motorcycle picks up speed alot faster than a car and if you do not have any experience with bikes you may think the person is speeding because it is moving alot quicker. And also people seem to forget that the passing lane is for passing. The bottom line is that it does not matter if the motorcycle is going 5mph or 100mph a simple bumper accident between two cas is that a simple accident, but with a motorcycle it could be death.Thats why motorcyclist get so upset.

Road rage shooting being called self-defense

As a previous long-time rider (15 years +) I know what you're saying is true. People often don't see anything other than a car, truck, or other big box. Bikes, scooters, and motorcycles don't seem to exist to many.

Cell phones have made things much, much worse. Several years ago, I was passing behind the Mid-City Mall at Baxter Avenue and Goddard. This young driver on Goddard stopped for the stop sign but failed to yield the right away. I incurred about $7000 damage to my car but no injuries. She went unconscious. If I had been on a motorcycle, I would have been injured or dead.

The main problem is that drivers don't focus on driving any more. Using your cell phone hands-free doesn't help if you're engaged in a heated argument with your soon-to-be-ex boyfriend / girlfriend. Maps should be looked at before you're on the road. Eating and driving don't mix either.

All the same, anyone who gets out / off his or her vehicle and approaches someone else's vehicle is begging for trouble. If someone is tailgating me, I'll slow down a bit and encourage them to pass me. You would have thought that the shooting at the Krogers in J-town would have taught us a lesson. Roll Eyes

There will probably be nothing done to the woman who shot the motorcycle rider. Why, because I have dealt with the Clark County Courts system for the past 12 years with three different women and have yet to see the courts system do anything to them. It is a sad state when "EQUALITY" does not matter. That woman should have only pulled the trigger as a last resort..

It is hard to say if this is actually a case of self defense, or a trigger happy woman. If the guy opened the SUV's door and attempted to assault the woman, she had every right to protect herself. If she opened the door, hit the guy, then shot him? She should be charged.

When the man wakes up and gives his version of events, witness statements are collected, and the woman tells her side, we will see if it was self defense or estrogen with a hair trigger.

'Estrogen with a hair trigger'??? What does the woman's gender have to do with it??? If anything, I associate anger and aggression with testosterone. This would tend to put the blame on the motorcyclist.

One factor that tends to 'convict' the motorcyclist is that he got off the bike and he approached the woman's vehicle. With his age and gender, he could have easily done this woman (or her son) injury or death without use of firearms.

What would have been ideal is for one or both of these two to have stopped at a public place or made a turn and thereby break up this rolling argument that was apparently going on. Stupid things happen when stupid meets stupid. Roll Eyes
