A Jefferson District Court judge on Monday gave Genny's Diner owner Frank Faris until next Monday to obtain a “good-faith deposit” from a buyer for the dilapidated, 19th-century house he owns on Frankfort Avenue in Clifton or risk going to jail.
The Jefferson County attorney's office has prosecuted Faris over several years for failing to maintain the house, and he was supposed to have the house sold or fixed up by a hearing Monday.
But District Judge Erica Lee Williams extended the deadline a week, clarifying that Faris must have the deposit, not just have the house up for sale, county attorney's office spokesman Bill Patteson said.
John Allen Taylor, Faris' attorney, could not immediately be reached for comment. Faris was not in the courtroom,
