Ok I don't know why my response was sent twice but oh well...
American-- Actually, yea they are. My mom is on the board of education and very soon they are going to be starting random drug tests. They will contact the parents, but sometimes thats not the best solution considering a lot of parents I know could care less if their child is doing drugs.

sadly, I know that is true. Back in the 80's when I was a teacher, a parent was called because it was suspected that her 13 yr old son was smoking pot. The mother's response was, "Yes, I do think he has been experimenting with drugs." Poor kid. Supports the case for spaying and neutering.

Based on the previous posts, I guess my stated opinion needs some adjustment. It is sad that so many otherwise good kids get into such destructive behavior. They certainly can't plead ignorance with all the information, examples of ruined lives, etc. available. Don't even get me started on parents! Kayla, "knowing" you now, I would be very sad if you EVER tried something so STUPID! Keep hangin' with us old folks; we'll love you straight.

I don't care who you know that is on the board. It's not going to happen to my children you can bank on that. If they want to weed out irresponsible parents and do it then whatever, but they will not be parenting my children about sex, drugs, acohol,God or anything else that does not have anything to do with Math,Science,History,Reading,Writing,Language Arts,............. Now if they wanted to do that for SPORTS then I would not have a problem with it,but just to say I'm going to drug test your child because I heard or I suspect then NO!
Personally I am sick to death about schools trying to take on the roll of parents. Teach my kids the EDUCATION they are supposed to be getting and I'll parent them like I am supposed to. Too many good parents are being side swiped by the system because of the bad ones. It's not that hard to know what parents care and which ones don't.
