I would strongly recommend that you download and run Windows Defender for Windows XP, SP2. It will rid you of most spyware infections and help prevent a lot from occurring in the first place.

Hope this helps. Smiler

French Toast - Thanks for the input, but I am running Vista which has Defender included and is (was) active. I was able to get rid of the issue by doing a system restore. I don't like doing restores because I also have Windows autoupdate on and it removes all applied updates, but having to re-install updates is better than having a virus, right? By the way, I have Insight Broadband and they offer free anti-spyware, anti-virus, and it is installed and running. The virus got past it also....(I send a report to them for analysis). Windows Firewall is also active. With all this protection, is there anything else that you can think of that I should do? Thanks.....

Nothing that I can think of. I switched to the CS protection suite that Insight offers and I've O.K. thus far. Smiler

You have downloaded a spybot client. Maybe included with a bunk service pack or a passice link download with no notice script.
Go through your control panel and hit up the uninstal files list to veiw all you have installed now and how often you use them.
anything that is rarely used or never used and is not a system component should be checked and uninstalled.
If the problem continues, then it might be a bunk browzer load that has changed your browzer to include a pop-up utility.
In that case you will need to reload your browzer OR get firefox or one of the better browzers loaded and uninstall the old one.

You should get yourself a mac.
Macs never have these problems.
