If you can hear the audio then your computer has inititated the proper connection to the streaming media.

I don't think this is an issue with WMP or IE 7, but maybe one of an incompatible video driver.

Try updating your video card driver or checking your version of installed DirectX.

The only reason I thought it might be IE7 is because it worked before I upgraded.

I haven't had any problems with mine.
