We have a water softener system and didn't think to bypass it so that the salt wasn't mixed in with the water before we watered our brand new double-knock out roses. We watered them about five times before we realized what we had done. All of the rose petals fell off and they haven't bloomed since we bought them, which was about a six weeks ago. They got plenty of rain water in June and we've watered them once in the past week with a mixture of flowering plants fertilizer. There's still no sign of new blooms. But, the leaves don't appear to be dead. Did we kill our rose bushes?

They might be ok. It does take some time for a plant to establish a root system before it will bloom consistently--even a Knock Out rose. So, as long as the leaves look alright, I'd just continue to water and fertilize and hopefully they will be blooming before no time.
