My garden which is close to a creek was flooded last week. The tomato and pepper plants we could save have been uprighted and restaked. Will the produce be alright to eat or should I rinse in chlorine water??? Any ideas? I also had some sweet potatoes and potatoes which I planted late and will not harvest for weeeks.

I've been told that the flood waters from last week's torrential downpour are considered "black water"--possibly containing sewage, pesticides, and oil and gasoline from street runoff. Needless to say that doesn't sound too appetizing, does it? If you think that the water came from a Combined Sewer Overflow, then you should definitely throw everything out.
