I planted pickling cucumbers in my garden and the plants themselves are growing well, with lots of flowers and small cucumbers. However, the cucumbers are dying before they ever grow. They are about the length of my thumbnail and then turn yellow and fall off! What can I do?

I had this same problem last year with my cucumbers and chalked it up to the fact that I live in the woods where most of my garden only got a couple hours of sunshine.

Well, the cucumbers have had the last laugh...This morning when I went out to investigate the garden I found 3 good size ones and many more coming on... hmm - I stand corrected!

No cucumbers in my fruitcake, thank you very much!
