[color=green:c49a741b92][b:c49a741b92]Hi~ :!: Big Grin When is a good time to plant flowers, roses to be exact~ :?: Or does the season matter with any type of flower~ :?: I have a flowerbed in which I planted one rose bush this past summer, so I would like to try more roses~ :!:

The grass seems like something was put on it to make it grow and the old grass doesn't, so it grows unevenly when it is long~! What can I do to make this better....or to grow evenly~ :?: Is there a certain product to buy to help the grass grow~ :?: What kind of product can you put on the dirted area where there is no grass growing~ :?: Thanks Smiler [/b:c49a741b92][/color:c49a741b92]

Roses are best planted the third or fourth week of March. It sounds like you need to get a fertilizer formulated for spring lawn care to even up your grass growth. Your local garden center will have the perfect product for you now.

Spot seed the bare areas now. To ensure good germination, you have to make good seed/soil contact. In most cases, a heavy grade or garden rake is a good enough tool to remove the dead grass and smooth out the soil in spots. Use the rake and remove the dead grass and loosen up the soil underneath. Then broadcast or sprinkle the seed over the soil and rake over the area again lightly.

Before you attempt to reseed any bare spots in your lawn, you need to make sure that there is adequate moisture available for the seed to germinate. Give you lawn a deep, thorough soaking to ensure that the top six inches or so has good moisture.

If you are not sure what the cultivar name of your existing turf is, choose a turf type tall fescue blend for spot seeding. A blend of varieties will help prevent dramatic color differences in the lawn; youd be amazed at the color differences between single cultivars.

Tap down the area with the back of the rake to firm in the seed and then cover the spots with a thin layer of fine topsoil or compost or straw.

Keep the areas evenly moist by watering lightly daily until the seed starts to germinate.

Growing conditions are good this time of the year, so your new grass should do well, and your existing grass should start growing better to help fill in repaired areas.
