I have a large cherry tree in my backyard. This year the birds have completely ruined the fruit. I have been told to try hanging old cd's and aluminum foil or pie pans in the tree, but that didn't work. I even tried spraying cologne on the leaves. I have heard of using mesh covering, but it is a very large tree and I am not sure it could all be covered. Is there anything I can do to prevent birds from getting the fruit? Are there sprays of some sort that I could use to keep birds away without harming the tree?
Unfortunately you seem to be trying all the standards solutions to no avail. Your bird must be really hungry. You could try sprinkling baby powder around, I hear the birds don't like that.
