I have 2 tulip poplars in our back yard that have developed black spots on the leaves, which turn yellow/brown, then the leaf falls off the tree. You can see photos below:
Walnut Ridge thought it to be a fungus and recommended spraying Fungines (RosePride) on the leaves, .. but when we did that on Saturday, it seemed to get worse
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as we don't want the trees to die.
It does look like a fungal leaf disease problem to me as well. Make sure you follow the directions on the label of the fungice that they gave you very carefully to avoid compounding the problem with other pysiological reactions. Keep them adequately watered to reduce stress--but water the soil--not the tree canopy. And good sanitation is critical! Disease causing fungi will overwinter in plant debris, reinfecting the landscaped beds the following year. So rake up and clean up any fallen leaves and debris.
Tulip trees are very durable plants, so they will likely recover.
Great pictures, by the way!
