One of the most popular cultivars of privet is the one commonly called Golden Vicary. It is a cross between common privet and L. ovalifolium ‘Aureum’.
The shrubs will grow 10-12 feet in height and in full sun will be covered in bright yellow foliage. The plants produce fragrant flowers that some people think is unpleasant—but one gardener’s nose may vary from another’s.
Privets can be pruned in late June or early July after flowering, or if flowers are not particularly prized, pruning in late winter or early spring is also an option.

Thanks for the reply on my question on the golden vicory..You answered the time but I still don't know how far back I can prune them.Any help I would be thankfull for. Thanks .
Sorry about that! My general rule of thumb is to cut back no more than one third, but Privet is one of those really durable shrubs that can withstand heavy pruning. You can cut it back to within several inches of the ground and it will come back...
