please help! my beautiful hostas are being slowly destroyed by very small slugs. can you tell me how i can get rid of these pesky creatures? most of my hostas are very large (4-5 foot wide) and close to my goldfish pond. will the ivory soap, water and oil method work?
i have never had this problem and the hostas have been there a long time (6 years). anything would be helpful. thanks

Beer is the answer! Get a small dish with low enough sides for the slugs to get over, but deep enough to hold about an inch or so of beer. You could bury it down in the mulch to make it level with the surface. You'll see the slugs in there in the morning. They'd rather drown in beer than eat hostas!

Empty tuna cans also work great for this. Smiler Big Grin Razzer
