I have a persimmon tree next to my driveway that overhangs it. During the fall when the persimmons fall off, it makes a huge mess on the driveway and on my cars, and they get tracked into my house. Is there any way to make the persimmon tree barren and not produce fruit? I would rather not have to cut it down as I do enjoy the shade it produces!

Unfortunately, there is no panacea for this problem. There are growth regulators on the market that are reported to reduce fruit production, but they are not practical for homeowner use. Sanitation is your only answer...

A freind of mine has a tree, and he does not use the fruit. He picked it all up, put it in a five gallon bucket, and handed it to me. I now have about 4 gallons of Persimmon wine making in the basement. It actually taste great, I just had to tast it to make sure!
