I have planted luffas (or loofahs). I started indoors and put them in the ground sometime around the middle of May. They are huge and growing up a trellis and up my house. The leaves look great. Everything is full and green. But there are no flowers on them at all. Not even the start of one, only leaves. There is a website that I used to gather information before planting and it says nothing about problems of this kind. I don't know if I did something wrong, if it's too early, or what. Can you please help?

The first explanation that comes to mind is that the plants have so much nitrogen that they are producing great vegetative growth at the expense of flowers and fruit production. Keep your fingers crossed that you still get some flower prodcution this year. You may be harvesting small loofas for sponges at the very end of the growing season, but more often than not, they work better than the larger ones.

Thank you so much. I put some different fertilizer (with less nitrogen) and I already have blooms! I appreciate your help.
