I planted 5 dynamite crepe myrtles last year. They did great. Lots of blooms and growth. This year, not one bud or bloom. A little new growth, but not much at all. Some dead sticks on a few tips, but not many. Is this anything to worry about.
It may still be expending its energy on root development instead of flower production. Give it a good dose of high phosphorous/high potassium fertilizer this fall and again next spring as new growth begins. It also does help a little to prune off the spent blooms so that the plant doesn't spend lots of energy producing seeds.
